Printer Printing Blank Pages? What to Check
Printer feeds paper but prints blank pages? Check ink or toner, printhead or cartridge issues, driver settings and test pages.
1. Print a printer-generated test page
If the printer can generate its own test or status page but computer documents are blank, the problem may be software, driver or print settings rather than the hardware.
2. Check ink or toner
Verify the cartridges or toner are recognized and not empty. Some printers will refuse normal printing when a cartridge is not seated or recognized correctly.
3. Check print settings
Confirm the correct paper size, color mode and printer device are selected. Try a simple document rather than a complex PDF or image.
4. Consider printhead or cartridge maintenance
Inkjet models may need manufacturer-provided cleaning or alignment procedures. Follow the printer's own instructions rather than repeatedly running maintenance cycles.
Before you change anything: If the printer is actively printing or moving, let the current job finish or cancel it from the queue. For physical clearing or cable work, power the printer down when the manufacturer's instructions call for it.
Still not fixed?
