Brother Printer Offline? Troubleshooting Guide
Brother printer offline? Check Wi-Fi, printer status, queue, drivers and Windows or Mac settings to restore printing.
1. Check the Brother printer display or LEDs
Resolve paper, cover, toner or other hardware warnings first. An error state can make the printer appear offline to the computer.
2. Confirm Wi-Fi
Make sure the Brother printer is connected to your current home or office network. If the router or Wi-Fi password changed, reconnecting the printer may be necessary.
3. Remove stuck jobs
Open the print queue, cancel failed jobs and try a test page. Avoid sending many jobs while the queue is already blocked.
4. Check the installed printer
If several Brother devices are listed, verify that the current one is selected. Driver and port configuration can also cause an offline state.
Before you change anything: If the printer is actively printing or moving, let the current job finish or cancel it from the queue. For physical clearing or cable work, power the printer down when the manufacturer's instructions call for it.
