Printer Not Found on Wi-Fi? Troubleshooting Steps
Computer cannot find your wireless printer? Check network, discovery, isolation, printer IP address and driver setup.
1. Check the printer's Wi-Fi status
Use the printer's display or network report to confirm it is connected to the intended Wi-Fi network. If it is connected to a different SSID, the computer may not discover it.
2. Avoid guest-network isolation
Some guest networks prevent devices from communicating with each other. A printer may have internet access but remain invisible to the computer.
3. Restart discovery
Restart the printer and computer, then add the printer again using the operating system's printer settings.
4. Check software and driver installation
If the device still cannot be found, the manufacturer software, driver or network configuration may need attention.
Before you change anything: If the printer is actively printing or moving, let the current job finish or cancel it from the queue. For physical clearing or cable work, power the printer down when the manufacturer's instructions call for it.
