Wi-Fi Connected but No Internet?
Your device can be connected to the router while the internet connection itself is unavailable. Here is how to narrow down where the problem is.
“Connected, no internet” usually means the device has a local Wi-Fi connection but cannot successfully reach the internet. The fastest diagnosis is to compare the affected device with another device on the same network.
What to check first
- Test another phone, computer or streaming device on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Restart the router and modem or gateway according to the equipment instructions.
- Disconnect and reconnect the affected device to the Wi-Fi network.
- Check whether the device received a normal IP configuration from the router.
- Test whether the issue affects every website or only a particular service.
- If appropriate, test another network or mobile hotspot to isolate the device from the home network.
When basic troubleshooting doesn't fix it
If multiple devices are offline, the issue may be upstream of the individual computer. If only one device is affected, device network configuration becomes the primary troubleshooting path.
