Computer Won’t Connect to Wi-Fi?
When a computer refuses to join Wi-Fi, the problem may be the computer, wireless adapter, saved network profile or router—not necessarily the internet service itself.
Start by separating a computer-specific problem from a whole-network problem. If phones and other devices connect normally, focus on the affected computer. If every device is offline, the router or internet connection may need attention.
What to check first
- Confirm Wi-Fi is enabled and Airplane mode is off.
- Restart the computer and the router or access point when appropriate.
- Forget the saved Wi-Fi network and reconnect using the current password.
- Check whether the computer sees other nearby wireless networks.
- Check the wireless adapter status and available driver updates.
- Test another device on the same network to determine whether the issue is isolated to one computer.
